Oh, how I love coffee. I love the smell of it, the heat, the taste, the aftertaste, the shimmer that goes down to my toes after I've given my cup a proper "Wuzzup?". I love the routine of it all so much, I've composed a sonnet. This is dedicated to Ms. Blissfully Caffeinated herself with the hope that she get back to 100% as quickly as possible:
Coffee, oh coffee! The magical brew,
Nectar of the Gods, I must bow to you.
The sweetest part of my morning, after Sprite's goodbye kiss,
Is when I hold you in my hands, every day I find new bliss.
Without your interference, I know not what patience means,
And my resolve to not rear-end someone would not be worth a hill of beans.
And when I've reached my sanity's end and cannot take one drop more,
I simply walk to the breakroom, turn my back on the world, and pour.
And when my day is over and I settle for the night,
I smile, knowing your aroma will rise with the morning light.
You are my meditation, my calming count to ten,
You are my salvation, my caffeinated Zen.

Next Week's Spin Assignment: Halloween!
We've done it before, we're doing it again! Submit your favorite Halloween story, memory, song, poem, anything you want as long as it's related to Halloween. Got some funny rules on trick or treating? Instruct us! Make the cutest homemade costume on the block? Show it off!
As long as it's about Halloween in some way, it's in!
See you next Friday on the Spin, er, SPOOKY Cycle!
(Oh, come on! I only get to use the "Spooky" once a year! Just give it to me, okay?)

I wish I liked coffee. It smells so good, and then a taste of it is like betrayal. What I like is Hagen Daz coffee ice cream. That tastes like coffee should!

Mmmmmmm...Coffee! I can't seem to function in the morning until I've had my first delicious cup. I've always loved the smell of coffee, but when I first started drinking it was too bitter for me...so I added packets of chocolate for making hot chocolate. Then I was hooked. Now I drink it with French Vanilla creamer...Mmmmmm! :)
Jan should ABSOLUTELY write a cookbook!! She has the BEST collection of recipes EVER! :)

Coffee. Good.
Almost as good as your sonnet! I loved it!
I'll think about the cookbook; in the meantime, here's my very last Spin for the week:

Nice poem. I'm always impressed by your ability to wax poetic.
Have a great weekend.

Oh, I am a HORRIBLE coffee addict! And I drink it throughout the day, which is sooo not a good thing. (Yeah, I am doing decaf these days... )
If only I could be happy brewing it at home... but noooooo.... I must have my Dunkies fix. Even though they're using the same damn coffee grinds. It's psychological, I know.
Posted by: Robin | October 23, 2009 at 09:41 AM
I drink coffee all day, sometimes up to 2 pots. I know I shouldn't and have been told not to, but after that first sip there is will in me to stop.

I have to admit, I don't drink coffee (don't throw things, please). I do drink diet soda in the morning so I think of it as my coffee. You do make it sound appealing.
Posted by: Anne | October 23, 2009 at 12:45 PM
the coffee gods are smiling.
you are worthy.
go forth and drink another cup.
Posted by: justsomethoughts | October 23, 2009 at 12:56 PM
I shall hum that over my next cup.

"caffeinated Zen". Awesome.
I think you should write a whole hymnal to coffee.
Posted by: Keely | October 23, 2009 at 02:01 PM
I'm not a coffee girl, but I love tea. Without tea I am not a nice person.

You just want me to post about MJ Smurfette Costume early, don't you? I probably will, because I will forget to take pictures while they are trick or treating.
I used to work in a coffee house, I was the whipped cream queen. I don't even like coffee.
Posted by: Laufa | October 23, 2009 at 02:45 PM
Coffee- good. Sleep- overrated.
Spins in, though:

It IS the nectar of the Gods. Thank you so much for this! I've been meaning to email you for days to say thank you for all of the good wishes while I was so out of it, I know you were watching closely for the updates my husband was posting. It was amazing to wake up and read all of those comments and posts and good wishes. Thanks for working on this with Jenni, also. You guys rock!!!

The first thing I thought of was a poem too. You're right, it means we love coffee just that much.
Posted by: Ellie Belen | October 23, 2009 at 09:21 PM
Oh ; -) I love your coffee poem. And I love coffee. I meant to get a recipe up, maybe I'll come in late. Horribly busy teaching week.
I'm coming back tomorrow and printing up a bunch of recipes.
And YES to Jan's cookbook.
With a martini chapter...

"caffeinated zen..." Very creative.
I don't drink coffee, which I know is strange; gives me the shakes.
But I do love the smell of the beans...
Posted by: Maureen@IslandRoar | October 23, 2009 at 11:24 PM
love my caffeine with coffee - just black maybe a shot of hazelnut.
I even did a caffeinated youtube video - not a big hit but it was fun to make.
