Ring!
"This is Jennifer."
"This is a courtesy call-"
"Is she okay?" Damnit, give them a second to tell you why you're cutting your day short!
"-Sprite doesn't have a fever, and her attitude seems okay, but she's had two loose BM's, so we thought we would give you the heads up. Has she been alright with that lately?"
"Well, um, she did have pizza this weekend which may have caused, um, did she do it on the potty at least?"
"I don't know."
"Oh. Well, um, let me know if she does it again and I'll pick her up."
"Okay, thank you."
---------------------------
Ring!
"Hello?"
"John, your daughter's loose."
"Wha-?"
"The school called. Sprite had two loose ones today."
"In the potty at least?"
"I don't know. The manager didn't know."
"I wanna know."
"I know! Me too! She's been so good with it.... Can you call to find out?"
"Jen, I'm really busy-"
"Never mind. I'll do it."
------------------------
Ring!
"Thank you for calling [redacted], how may I help you?"
"Hi, this is Sprite's mom again. I'm sorry, but I have to ask. When did these accidents occur? Before lunch? After lunch?"
"I'll check for you....................................... one before lunch, and one after."
"Did she at least try to make it to the potty?"
"Um.....hold on......................................... I just spoke to Ms. Jen and she told me that Sprite doesn't show any interest in the potty when she's here."
"That can't be right. She's been perfect for a week. No accidents at all."
"That's what Ms. Jen says."
"Are you sure this is my Sprite?"
"She DID say-"
"And Ms. Jen isn't Sprite's teacher."
"One moment, I need to investigate this a little............................. I am so sorry."
"Wrong Sprite?"
"Yes! I just called her room and the teacher told me she's been perfect all day. They called up with the wrong name from Sprite's old class."
"So, I guess we're okay?"
"Yes, false alarm. Again, so sorry."
"No worries. I'm just happy I don't have to do laundry tonight."

Hah! Not having to do laundry is the best!

oh my goodness.
SOMEONE is embarrassed, and it isn't you.....
Posted by: vodkamom | October 29, 2009 at 05:53 AM
YAY! for no accidents. BOOOOOO for them being so frazzled they don't know which end is whose?
Posted by: kyooty | October 29, 2009 at 07:00 AM
Oh dear!
At least it wasn't your Sprite.
Posted by: Twisted Cinderella | October 29, 2009 at 07:08 AM
Seems a little scary that they can't keep their Sprite's apart. I mean how many can there be?
Yay! no extra laundry.
Here's my spin for this week. http://michele-dogslife.blogspot.com/2009/10/halloween-fast-facts-from-us-census.html
I think that's two weeks in a roll. I may be losing that lazy touch. Nah, my spin screams lazy.

Sheesh. I can understand why you might be a little apprehensive whenever you see their number on the Caller ID.
Posted by: Arwen | October 29, 2009 at 07:24 AM
Did you call John back and tell him they got the wrong sprite? And yes.....Yay no extra wash!!!!!
Posted by: Baba | October 29, 2009 at 07:26 AM
Wow, good thing you called back! See, always follow those killer mom-instincts.
Posted by: Maureen@IslandRoar | October 29, 2009 at 07:28 AM
not cool, school! glad she wasn't loose (haha!) though.
Posted by: jenni | October 29, 2009 at 07:59 AM
Wow, I din't realize Sprite was a common name, I'm out of the loop I guess.
Nobody need that extra wash, yeah to the right Sprite!

Definitely a good thing you called back to double check - bet both you and John were relieved to know your daughter isn't loose. ;)
Here's my spin for the week:

Well, at least you know they're at least trying to stay on top of everything. And it sounds like an honest mistake. And, like Stacy said, at least you know your daughter isn't loose. And hooray Sprite! Way to go potty. And...well, just and.

I can't believe they got the wrong kid. That is too funny. Just wait until she is a teen. Then you will get tearful phone calls from them saying they need a change of pants and underwear. And that is way harder to get out then loose stuff.
Posted by: WickedStepMom | October 29, 2009 at 10:21 AM
So Ew!! But understandable. That is why I gave my kids slightly odd names (you probably have seen them on Facebook, my Aunt doesn't believe in privacy).

I'm starting to really question your daycare....
I'll be spinning later tonight. Here's my link but it won't be up til 9pm your time. Is that okay?

Yay for Sprite! Boo for having loose poos. Yay for making it to the potty! I love the way you and Jon talk to each other, the way you write it is soo funny!
Posted by: Kirsty@Gone Bananas | October 29, 2009 at 01:17 PM
Well, at least it wasn't your little one.
I guess that's the good sign, but those calls definitely throw the whole day off.

Hello! They need to know who pooped when. What kind of place is this!? I never.
(Hey, I still have no idea what is wrong with my site. . .but I do know I have e-mailed the ad network about getting World of Warcraft or whatever it is called off my site! I blocked it three times and I hate that game! I don't want to promote that! Sorry John, but I don't. They'd better remove it or I am so out of there and I am taking my $5.50 I earned in the last six months with me.

Oh! Don't you love hearing about some random kid's loose poops!?
Posted by: Belle | October 29, 2009 at 04:06 PM
There is more than one Sprite at Sprite's school?!?
(ps - I'm sorry I have been so MIA. I still love, love, love you and am catching up right now!)
Posted by: Nel | October 29, 2009 at 05:48 PM
Lol...the case of the mistaken "loose" identity.
Posted by: anymommy | November 01, 2009 at 05:02 PM
Oh shit. Or no shit. Even better.
Posted by: Casey | November 01, 2009 at 08:01 PM
Score! Your kid's not the loose one. And she's making it to the potty on time. Forget the confusion, in your face preschool, letting the gloating commence.
