There are two moments I look forward to every weekday.
The first moment is when I'm dropping Sprite off for school in the morning. Most people are confused about this, thinking I barely slow down in the parking lot in order to rid myself of a toddler and trot off happily to mingle with the other adults. Hardly. I sit down with her in her class room and play with her and a couple of other tots for about 10 minutes. If she decides to ignore me, I can just be in the same area with her and be silent and still as I watch the innocence of youth interact, unaware of the time passing, unconcerned with obligations, and just for those moments, I am innocent with them. I am not concerned with work. I am not concerned with the 9AM meeting I have.
The second favorite part of my day is when she's just gone down to sleep. Her day is done and I know we've done a good job of keeping her alive and happy. I know she's safe, she's secure, she's warm, and she's less than 20 feet away if I'm needed. Oh, yeah, she's quiet too.
(An oldie but a goodie. I mean, seriously, this post is about zen, right? If I were to take her picture now while she's sleeping, she would wake up. And we don't want that, since that would blow the zen right out the window. Thanks for understanding.)

I Love that picture. Again thanks for my B-Day gift it was the best gift I got.
